You Are Born Rich

you are born rich

Everyone gets two envelopes: It’s like a game we all play when we’re born. Each person gets two envelopes, one with good stuff (riches) and the other with not-so-good stuff (penalties).

No favorites, no exceptions: Nobody gets special treatment. We all get the same envelopes with the same stuff inside.

What’s in the envelopes?

The contents of the first envelope, labeled “riches” includes the following list of blessings:

  1. Sound health
  2. Peace of mind
  3. Labor of love of your own choice
  4. Freedom from fear and worry
  5. A positive mental attitude
  6. Material riches of your own choice and quantity

The contents of the second envelope, labeled “penalties” includes the following list of prices one must pay for neglecting to take possession of one’s own mind:

  1. Ill health
  2. Fear and worry
  3. Indecision and doubt
  4. Frustration and discouragement throughout life
  5. Poverty and want
  6. A whole flock of evil consisting of envy, greed, jealousy, anger, hatred, and superstition.

Napoleon Hill’s concept of the two envelopes labeled “The riches you may enjoy IF you take possession of your own mind and direct it to ends of your own choice” and “The penalties you must pay IF you neglect to take possession of your own mind and direct it” emphasizes the critical importance of self-awareness, self-discipline, and purposeful action in shaping our lives.

Envelope one, labeled with the promise of riches, highlights the potential for success, fulfillment, and abundance that individuals can achieve when they take control of their own thoughts, beliefs, and actions. By consciously directing their minds towards goals and aspirations that align with their values and desires, individuals can unlock a wealth of opportunities, achievements, and experiences that lead to a rich and rewarding life.

On the other hand, envelope two, labeled with the threat of penalties, warns of the consequences of neglecting to harness the power of one’s own mind. When individuals fail to take ownership of their thoughts, allowing negativity, fear, doubt, and external influences to dictate their beliefs and actions, they risk facing a series of penalties or hardships. These penalties may manifest as missed opportunities, unfulfilled potential, setbacks, failures, and a sense of dissatisfaction or regret about the direction of their lives.

Hill’s message is clear: the mind is a powerful tool that can either lead to great success or bring about significant challenges depending on how it is utilized. By actively taking possession of our minds, directing our thoughts and actions towards our goals, and maintaining a positive and purposeful mindset, we can unlock the riches promised in Envelope One and avoid the penalties outlined in Envelope Two. This underscores the importance of self-mastery, self-discipline, and personal responsibility in shaping our destiny and creating the life we desire.

We have the power to change our life

According to Napoleon Hill’s teachings, using the “Riches and Penalties” concept to change our lives involves several key steps:

  1. Awareness: Recognize that everyone is born with these metaphorical envelopes, symbolizing the opportunities and challenges inherent in life. Understanding this concept helps us acknowledge the dual nature of our experiences and the role they play in shaping our journey.

  2. Mindset Shift: Cultivate a positive mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Instead of being deterred by setbacks or failures, see them as valuable lessons that propel you forward on your path to success.

  3. Goal Setting: Define clear, specific goals that align with your values, passions, and aspirations. Visualize the contents of the “Riches” envelope—success, abundance, fulfillment—and set your intentions to unlock its potential through focused effort and determination.

  4. Action: Take consistent, purposeful action towards your goals, despite any obstacles or setbacks you may encounter along the way. Use the contents of the “Penalties” envelope—challenges, setbacks, failures—as fuel for growth and resilience, rather than allowing them to deter you from your path.

  5. Adaptability: Remain flexible and adaptable in the face of changing circumstances. Embrace setbacks as opportunities to reassess and refine your approach, adjusting your strategies as needed to stay aligned with your goals.

  6. Persistence: Maintain unwavering persistence and determination, even in the face of adversity. Remember that success often requires perseverance and resilience, and that setbacks are temporary obstacles on the path to achievement.

  7. Gratitude: Cultivate a mindset of gratitude for both the “Riches” and “Penalties” in your life. Appreciate the opportunities, blessings, and lessons that each experience brings, recognizing that they contribute to your personal growth and development.

  8. Master Your Destiny: We teach how to change penalties into blessings by using the power of mind, body and soul.

By consciously applying these principles in your life, you can leverage the concept of “Riches and Penalties” to effect positive change, unlock your full potential, and create the life you desire.
